DescriptionSantiago Flores Charneco’s art focuses on the visual languages of his native land, the Caribbean. He creates assemblages that defy classification as paintings or collages, realist or abstract. His works often refer to traditional Caribbean festivals like carnival and their accompanying spiritual rituals. Here, we see the sensual unleashing of rhythmic abundance and the disarticulation of body postures that music and dance provoke. By transforming the design and imagery of Caribbean folklore, Flores Charneco seeks to create works of visual poetry and celebrations of life.
