DescriptionThis painting reflects Santiago Flores Charneco’s new environment here in DC, with the familiar imagery of city maps, the architectural planes of the urban complex, the patterns of gentrification and transmutation, always with an emphasis on dimensionality, design, and abstraction. Nevertheless, it conjures a definite relationship with Caribbean traditions, maintaining an emphasis on the conjugation of designs, surfaces and colors, which generate a multiplicity of planes of different depths, textural variables and tonal contrasts.
