DescriptionSantiago Flores Charneco thinks of his artwork as a celebration of life and a reflection of his intrinsic desire to connect with the people and marine life of the Caribbean region. His works often reference traditional Caribbean festivals, such as the Carnival, and other spiritual rituals that accompany these popular festivities. His materials and techniques also relate to these celebrations: for instance, the sparkling sequins, beads and glass tubes of Haitian voodoo, or the flashing, iridescent and glittering elements used in clothing during the festivals.
