BiographyBorn in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Santiago Flores Charneco graduated from Escuela de Artes Plásticas in Puerto Rico and continued his studies at the Graduate Program of Visual Arts at the Academia San Carlos in Mexico where he completed his MA in Visual Arts, with a concentration in Painting. His more than 20 individual and collective exhibitions include Vejigante en la ciudad (1992), Sobrepaños (1996), Entretelas (2000), Mosaico sobrepaños (2008) and Perfil luminoso (2011). His work has been part of La Muestra Nacional and the exhibition 100 Años Después, both at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña (ICP). Flores Charneco is the recipient of the Merit Prize from ICP and grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation. His work is among prestigious private and institutional collections locally and internationally.
