Manuel Morquecho
Photography has always been Manuel Morquecho’s passion. He delayed the development of this passion until 2009, when he jumped into the art of digital photography. Morquecho works in this medium because it allows him to grasp the realities of his lived experience in an instant, without distortion caused by the passage of time and changing feelings. He strives to create timeless portrayals of the conflicts that lie within him and within all of us. His is pleased when someone sees his images and is emotionally moved, transported to a place of peace, beauty, poetry and deep feelings. Morquecho’s work also reflects his Mexican heritage, focusing on exploring the urban landscape and the integration of the face and body into fine art.
Morquecho has had several solo and group exhibitions in Guatemala, Europe and the United States. He is a member of the World Bank-IMF International Photographic Society (IPS) and has curated photographic exhibitions. He studied at La Fototeca in Guatemala City and Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts.
