DescriptionThis work is from a series called “Conflicted,” which explores the idea of home. To Hoysted, home means both her adopted country of the United States and her native Ireland. The image seek to integrate Hoysted as both an immigrant and an emigrant, borrowing cultural motifs and incorporating ancient script to explore her current life. The dress pattern is derived from the keystones on Celtic crosses. To produce this work, Hoysted repeatedly poured acrylic ink and allowed it to dry, resulting in layers that are both opaque and transparent.
