DescriptionTo Stephanie Kiah, DC has long encapsulated much of the culture, soul, and music that Black artists have contributed to this country. In that spirit, these two works are based on songs written by Black female performers. I've Been in Search of Myself… is titled for the lyrics of Erykah Badu’s Master Teacher. The musical theme of these pieces is emphasized by the inclusion of vintage sheet music and the improvisational nature of their production.
