DescriptionFrom 1988-1992 I photographed over 400 buildings in DC for Pamela Scott and Antoinette J. Lee’s Buildings of the District of Columbia (Society of Architectural Historians/Oxford University Press, 1993). After moving to DC in 1986 the Uptown had become my favorite movie theater. When I learned I would be photographing it for the book, I knew that because of its beautiful lighting its portrait must be taken at night.
