DescriptionAs Arkin became more skilled at working with the molten wax used in encaustic painting, she began to incorporate marks that she used in drawings. Making lines in molten wax isn’t an easy task, and it took a long time to perfect techniques that gave Arkin a varied line quality she enjoyed. The linear works, such as “The World Below,” became webs of color that really played on the dimensional qualities of wax.
