DescriptionThe subject matter of Ian White’s Motivation relates to feelings the artist experience in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. The urge to be productive gave way to feelings of isolation and inertia. The calm and quite of home or office began to feel chaotic and full of pressure, as did the external world of illness and loss. White captures his feelings using a spare composition, eerie green light, and a desk that threatens to swallow the small figure whole, combining horror with humor.
