DescriptionRic Garcia’s prints celebrate Latino culture’s connection with American culture by way of food and other consumer products. They aim to highlight ways in which assimilated cultures contribute to the images and ideas of Americana. Sampling from various sources, Garcia references gender along with various Latino cultural touchstones in order to spark conversation about diversity, identity, and what it means to be bicultural. He works in the Pop Art style, building on an art historical tradition to represent ideas with immediacy, power, and flexibility.
