DescriptionTim Davis’ figures are based on individuals he has photographed or sketched. However, by portraying them without features or facial expressions, he allows the viewer to “fill in” the expression and interpret a visual conversation. Tuned In represents not only being plugged in through headphones and electronic patterns, but also being present for what may occur in the future. Through the face of the foregrounded individual, one sees a second figure leaning out a window, implying communication and connection between youth and their elders. The work is created on clear, shiny Plexiglas, inviting a reflection on ourselves as we view it.
