DescriptionTim Davis’ figures are based on individuals he has photographed or sketched. However, by portraying them without features or facial expressions, he allows the viewer to “fill in” the expression and interpret a visual conversation. In Searching for Freedom, Black figures in the foreground and background represent Black culture and the continued search for peace. The work is created on clear, shiny Plexiglas, inviting a reflection on ourselves as we view it.
