DescriptionThese two pieces are less creation of new material and more manipulation of existing material. The colored glass stringer is selectively combined with castoff window sheet glass. It is a play on randomness, limitation and control as the two types of glass are not exactly compatible for kiln fusing. The rainbow result is an exploration of the relationship between artist and audience. Throughout human history the rainbow holds the storied embodiment of imagination, ingenuity, and narrative. Rainbow I & II are sculptures thoughtfully assembled for the audience to interpret. The colored stringer is a provocative glass element combined with found object glass expressing at once simple vitality and intrigue toward challenging assumptions and expectations of what can work together to produce unintended results.
