BiographyLely Constantinople is a photo-based artist from Washington, DC who has been exhibiting her work nationally and internationally for over twenty years. Her photographs are held in the collections of the Anacostia Community Museum, the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, as well as numerous private collections. She is also an independent photo editor, archivist, and teacher. Recent books projects include: Frame of Mind: Punk Photos and Essays from Washington, D.C. and Beyond, 1997-2017 by photographer Antonia Tricarico (afterword, Akashic Books); Hard Art DC 1979, photographs of the early DC punk scene by Lucian Perkins (editor, Akashic Books), with contributions by Alec MacKaye and Henry Rollins; and SHOTS: An American Photographer's Journal 1967-72 (editor, Insight Editions), photographs by David Fenton of the late 1960s counterculture with essays by Norman Mailer and Tom Hayden.
