Description"With My Brother and My Sister Standing By" is an acrylic collage diptych on canvas originally created in 2016 for my first solo exhibition. It began as a study of cast shadows of figures in the angled light of golden hour. As the composition evolved those shadows crisscrossed each other creating new shapes and transitions. In 2019, I worked into a few areas and rearranged the panels to create a stronger sense of design. But throughout the creative process, the idea of community remained. I am a middle child and the push and pull of the resulting image reinforced that for me."
