DescriptionAn immersive multichannel documentary in Walter Pierce Park led by artist Kristin Adair during September 2023. This project invited the community to step into the history of Adams Morgan through interweaving stories of the legacy of organizing and resistance in the neighborhood leading to DC school's desegregation, ended redlining, and fought for housing justice; contrasted with the realities of present-day gentrification and displacement. The multimedia work incorporated archival photos and video, text, interviews, and video portraits centering the voices of activists, leaders, and community members who led the movements for anti-racism and economic justice, and those directly impacted by the community gentrification. Pop-up screenings invited residents, community leaders, policymakers, and visitors to view the immersive work and engage in dialogue about racial justice and economic violence, the extreme disparities that persist today, and the possibilities for overcoming individual and collective traumas through personal and community resilience and policies that support everyone to thrive. The work was on view from September 1 - 30, 2023 at Walter Pierce Park, DC.
