DescriptionChee-Keong Kung’s Slow Light sculptural series plays with the gaps and spaces where intention intersects with happenstance. The artist assembles the artworks from wood and metal components that are modified only very slightly, then treated on their surface with gesso, acrylic paint, and color pencil. As the piece is built, the parts accumulate smudges, fingerprints, measuring lines, and other marks. Some of these Kung erases, and others he leaves in place as part of the final artwork. Trained in art and architecture, Kung maintains a keen interest in both geometry and gesture.
