DescriptionJenny Wu’s sculptural works acknowledge and embrace the property of the latex paint and resin that comprise them. Wu pours the paint one thick layer at a time, lets each layer dry, and repeats the process thirty to forty times. She then cuts into the dried, layered paint, revealing the cross section, and uses those dried paint layers to “build a wall.” On the day each “wall sculpture” was finished, she went to President Donald Trump’s twitter account and found one phrase or sentence to title the piece. She aims to humorously poke at the truth by magnifying the seemingly innocent details it hides behind.
