DescriptionRed Plastic and Sharp Metal comes from a series of photographs taken by Caitlin Teal Price of objects collected by her 5-year-old son. Out on walks, her son would notice small items overlooked by most—pieces of metal and plastic, rocks and bugs—and add them to his collection of treasures. To Price, these tiny scraps felt dirty and overwhelming. But she took the clutter and chaos of motherhood and honored her son’s eye and innocence by photographing them. As she did so, she claimed her identity as a woman and an artist, transforming his objects into her own sculptural imaginings.
