DescriptionIn Winslow’s case, he thinks of 'home' as his studio and the figures depicted in the paintings, aside from himself, as invited guests, people whom he would enjoy spending time with or get to know better. “Day” is a faithful rendition of the view out of the glass wall of his studio in the Shaw neighborhood of DC which he has enjoyed for 28 years. During that time this southerly view has changed dramatically and while he misses being able to see the Washington Monument in the distance, he loves the vitality and visual excitement that all the urban infill has brought with it and tried to convey that here. Wilson took only one liberty with the 'faithfulness' in that the Apple TV wall size ad seen in the distance was actually on the side of a building two blocks to the west of where he located it.
