DescriptionDC8 Totem Poles will consist of 8 abstract totem poles symbolic of the 8 wards in DC.  Each pole recounts crucial historical and cultural elements within the wards and include actual testimonies from DC residents. This totem is inspired by the native bird of Washington DC, the Wood Thrush. It is sitting on top of a traditional totem pole head supported by a bird cage-like structure filled with river rocks found in DC. The totem captures some of the natural resources in the city.
