DescriptionDC8 Totem Poles will consist of 8 abstract totem poles symbolic of the 8 wards in DC.  Each pole recounts crucial historical and cultural elements within the wards and include actual testimonies from DC residents. This totem is inspired by the strength and determination of the residents in DC. The sculpture is made out of steel and pressure treated wood representing the strength of communities but also the many challenges the city has faced. The piece remains open to the destiny, aspirations, dreams and hopes the residents have for the city’s future.
