DescriptionSet within the contemporary urban swimming pool, these pieces are a part of a series titled, SWIM. "Sink or Swim" is an adage that comes to mind in times when people feel overwhelmed or besieged by the challenges of life. Through these works Gibson-Hunter attempts to celebrate the tenacious will to persist in times of challenge, the power of water to both cleanse and rejuvenate the soul in such times, and the grit to continue to "take life on" through re-emersion into the beauty and trials of life. The paper juts out all around the periphery of the piece denoting boundlessness. These pieces are a lighthearted investigation of the challenges we all face in life.
