DescriptionLindley lives near the Washington National Cathedral and it is one of his favorite subjects for drawings on site and some plein air paintings, as well as studio paintings developed from on-site study and reference photographs. This particular view is less familiar to most passers-by and visitors, who are accustomed to seeing the west end of the Cathedral or the side views from Wisconsin Avenue or Woodley Road. Lindley tried to capture the feeling of mid-day summer heat.
