Description“Sister on the Move,” an acrylic on canvas painting, was inspired by all the women we know who rise early, work long and hard, and have big dreams. They set goals and do whatever it takes—within reason to achieve them. They are always plotting and planning their next move. Often this is done while balancing family obligations—caring for children, spouses, and aging parents. Nonetheless, every now and then, they take time out to shop, meet up with their friends, or just go off to spend some alone time.
Although the scenery outside the train window was influenced by my childhood home in New York City, the interior color scheme was patterned after the Washington, D.C. Metro cars in use during the early 2000s. This sister does not have facial features because there is no need to identify her in that way. She can be whomever the viewer wishes. The one sure thing is that she is contemplating her next move!
