BiographyIra Tattelman’s work is a dialogue with and reinterpretation of the environs we inhabit. He observes, responds to, and interprets the built surroundings, making physical and emotional connections to the constructed environments in which he lives and travels. He is inspired by the everyday, cluttered world, prioritizing idiosyncratic and unexpected details. With videos and installations, he creates a connection to the time and place of their creation; with photography and printmaking, he documents and augments a moment in time.

Tattelman studied architecture at Harvard University. His artwork has been exhibited in numerous solo shows in galleries across the region and internationally, and he has received multiple grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, including the Sister Cities Grant, which allowed him to travel and exhibit in Italy in 2017-18. He has held artist residencies in Skopje, North Macedonia, and the Alexandria Office of the Arts.
