DescriptionSally Kauffman explores the common ground where abstraction and figuration coincide in “Tell Me About It” from “Relaxed States,” a series of paintings of people listening to jazz on Friday evenings in the National Sculpture Garden. The work celebrates pleasure through the sensuality of paint and interplay of colors. Kauffman captures moments in snapshots and digitally manipulates the composition and intensity of color. The dense, saturated images become the source for the paintings.
