BiographyDenise Wright started shooting photographs in 1995, the year of the Million Man March. Since then, she has used the same Canon Rebel with Fuji and TRX black and white film. Wright is mainly self-taught outside of one class at the Smithsonian and guidance from more experienced photographers. Wright was chosen as a finalist in a People magazine contest, has sold pictures through art shows and auctions, and routinely donates her work to charitable causes. She aims to capture images of iconic events and idiosyncratic nuances of the African American experience in the nation’s capital.
