DescriptionArtist Kristine DeNinno was lead teacher with ArtReach at THEARC in a program that enabled students to attend free summer art classes. Art projects were based on the theme “Observe your Present, Paint the Future”. Students learned how important daily choices impact their future by understanding the Anacostia River watershed, why it is endangered, the issues with pollution and the benefits of recycling. In response to these lessons, students made individual mixed media artwork and prints as well as collaborative projects created from found objects and other media.
