DescriptionRegina Miele produced Rock Creek, Winter as part of a series documenting conservationist Rachel Carson’s seminal book, A Silent Spring. The series visualizes the vital importance of green space in urban areas, both for conservation and for emotional and psychological well-being. Little did Miele know in 2019 what a crucial role Rock Creek Park and other green spaces would play in helping District residents cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. This scene takes place along Rock Creek at Tilden Lane. Miele focuses on the movement of water and light in order to encourage the viewer to look closely at both the painting and the natural world.
