DescriptionInitially trained as an analog photojournalist, artist Jon Malis now investigates the technologies that dictate how color is recorded and interpreted. This artwork, part of his “Transcolorations” series, translates the physicality of an ephemeral dataset into “tangible color” using 3D printing and other digital technologies. In physically reproducing the shapes of encoded color, Malis considers both the source of the raw data and how presentation and viewing perspectives can alter our relationship with such data.
