DescriptionJun Lee’s body of work evokes the different moments of our competitive lives, using animals as proxies for human beings. As she describes it, every victory is built upon the foundation of loss, suffering, effort, and sacrifice. Success depends on one’s willingness to continue the struggle after a defeat. Here, the rabbits represent a moment of waiting, anticipating, and regrouping, and they experience this moment together rather than alone. Lee’s woodcut process involves progressively carving a block of wood, resulting in only a single final print.
