DescriptionRegina Miele aims to document the changing, gentrifying cityscapes of Washington, DC. She memorializes structures that have witnessed both the lives of their occupants and the political and social upheavals of the District. Pennsylvania Avenue is part of Miele’s “Urban Monopoly” series. The building depicted is along the H Street Corridor, on the streetcar line to Benning Road. Though the artist directly observed the graffiti, cranes, and lease signage, she took artistic liberties by titling the piece Pennsylvania Avenue and inserting Monopoly imagery.
