DescriptionShanthi Chandrasekar’s art is inspired by science, mathematics, and Indian philosophy. Through repetitive traditional patterns, such as circles and spirals, Chandrasekar explores infinite space and time. Here, the larger exterior circle represents the limitations of our senses and perceptions, while the spirals symbolize the passage of time, from imperceptible nanoseconds to the atomic world, the hours of day and night to astronomical units. To Chandrasekar, time encompasses both perception and mystery.
