DescriptionThese prints are from a series called “Details: Utilitarian Abstraction.” Inspired by the process of breaking down cardboard boxes for the recycling bin, the compositions are determined by the placement of printer codes on the boxes. Here, the graphics are greatly magnified, resulting in the image quality breaking down in ways that remove the pieces from their printed source material. These artworks aim to make associations between high art and consumerism and expose the ways in which the graphic design and printing industries have collided with the visual language of fine art.
