DescriptionWhile Sam Gilliam is best known for his large colored canvases, especially those that are unstretched and draped, he also produced a large body of prints. Inspired by the improvisation of jazz music, he produced abstractions with bold and lively pattern, rhythm, and color. For this work, Gilliam has worked closely with DC printmaker Lou Stovall.
