DescriptionThe Flower Behind the Barn was inspired by Kellie Cox’s time working on a plant farm in Ithaca, New York. During the summer, the farmers would grow beautiful and bold native sunflowers behind the large red barn. During windy days at the farm, the sunflowers would move in the wind, almost as if they were dancing. The colors and textures are what inspired Cox to create over-sized bold and vibrant sunflowers in a painting. The painting was created with acrylic paint, on stretched canvas. The painting was completed over a three month period, in her small apartment with her fiancé and tiny dog.
