DescriptionIt has been Wolpoff’s observation that the interplay of light and shadow can momentarily illuminate the most ordinary setting. During one of her early trips to the southwest she became mesmerized by the desert’s mysterious vitality. Wolpoff did a painting a day, each one a sort of love letter. “In the Teeth of the Sun” is part of an ongoing series exploring her fascination with the Sonoran desert, where sunlight can seem to bounce while grasping at organic forms.
