DescriptionThis cityscape by MacDonnell features a beautiful, haunting portrait of Marvin Gaye. The portrait was made by Jim Hendin during the photo shoot for the What’s Going On album and was used here as a translucent billboard in two parts. At a 90-degree angle, obscured from view in this photograph, is the rest of a Hennessey advertisement. It was at the entrance to the Third Street tunnel in 2006, prior to much of the gentrification in that neighborhood
