DescriptionFor over two decades, Colin Winterbottom has photographed iconic sites in Washington, DC. Here, he captures the Fountain of Light and Water, also called the Bartholdi Fountain, at the United States Botanical Garden. The cast-iron fountain was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, who also created the Statue of Liberty, and installed in 1877. Rising thirty feet tall and encircled with lamps, it stands as an allegory for light and water. Here, the statue is seen at night from below, the lights a glowing halo over the three female figures.
