Wayson Jones

Wayson Jones makes predominantly black and white paintings on paper, canvas, or wood panel that embody abstraction as both a process and an end. He uses acrylic for its quick drying, glossiness, and ability to blend with other wet and dry media, as well as pumice gel: ground volcanic rock suspended in a thick medium. Its coarse quality produces a perception of massiveness and density, even in small works.

Jones holds a BA in music from the University of Maryland and has studied visual art at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop and Washington Studio School. He has exhibited throughout the DC region, as well as in New York and California.
