Cedric Baker

Cedric Baker works in various media, including oil, acrylic, pastel, drawing and printmaking. His figurative and abstract works are influenced by the African American spiritual experience as well as the early masters of painting. Baker concentrates on the surface of a painting, layering colors and textures. He looks to internal emotion and meditative spirituality rather than the noise of external reality, of the object or the figure. Baker has recently exhibited in DC, North Carolina, New York, and a State Department Art in Embassies Program in Djibouti, Africa. He has work in public collections across the United States. He studied at Sacramento City College and the Pratt Institute and has worked at the National Gallery of Art and the Lorton Arts Foundation.
