Soledad Salame

Soledad Salamé was born in Santiago, Chile, and currently lives and works in Baltimore, MD. As founder and director of Sol Print Studios, Salamé is an active member of the Baltimore arts community. She lived in Venezuela from 1973 to 1983, where she was inspired by the rain forest. She has conducted intensive field research in the Americas, Europe, and Antarctica, including a project called Are you listening that started at the desert of Atacama in Chile, then evolved in the Dominican Republic and culminated in Baltimore. Salamé has exhibited in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Miami, New York, Milwaukee, and Santiago, Chile.

Salamé’s work is held in private and public collections including the Deutsche Bank, New York; National Gallery of Art and National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC; Baltimore Museum of Art; and University of Essex, UK. Her pieces are included in a number of publications, including The Contemporary Museum: 20 years (2011), The St. James Guide to Hispanic Artists (2002), Latin American Women Artists of the United States (1999), and Latin American Art in the Twentieth Century (1996).
