BiographyJoyce McCarten creates abstract works in acrylic, oil, charcoal, and mixed media. She has taught at the Art League School, Alexandria, VA, and served as picture editor at US News and World Report Books and Smithsonian Magazine. She studied at several institutions, including Penn State University and the Corcoran School of Art, and has exhibited throughout the mid-Atlantic region. McCarten spent time in Niger and Rwanda, which strongly impacted her life and work.
