Steven Muñoz

BiographyOriginally from New Mexico, Steven Muñoz came to Washington, DC, to attend American University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in printmaking. Today, his work is in the permanent collections of the Western Railroad and Mining Museum in Helper, Utah, Arlington County Government in Virginia, and the Montgomery County Public Art Trust in Maryland.

Steven is currently the Director of the Lee Arts Center, a program of Arlington Cultural Affairs. For several years prior to assuming the directorship of the Lee Arts Center in early 2009, Steven was the Grants Officer for Arlington Cultural Affairs managing the grant program for the arts, which supports arts organizations and individual artists in Arlington County, VA.

Steven enjoys spending time as: a board member of City Blossoms; a certified DC Master Gardener; a dog owner, and a coffee drinker. He appreciates a good gin; and he has a passion for sneakers. Midway Bee is the name of his printing press, and the name comes from a quote from Hesiod, "The earth bore much substance, on the mountains the oak at its top yielded acorns and midway bees." Bees, gardening and oak trees have long been an interest and presence in Muñoz’s life.
