DescriptionThis artwork belongs to a series called "Detrimorphose,” which aims to depict the power of brokenness and redemption. Each work in the series gives new life to that which has been cast aside. In this case, Fowler brings used clothing—including denim with grommets and cotton cords—into an assemblage that gestures toward resilience and restoration. The construction of 080.62.020 is inspired by the geometric patterns of quilts, with their stitched together squares of recycled materials. Through this work, Fowler hopes to inspire a greater consciousness and creativity towards the paraphernalia we would otherwise discard, and to address concepts of stewardship, consumerism, and interdependence.
