DescriptionWashington, D.C is a constantly evolving city and in the 16 years that Joshua has lived here, the pace of change has become more rapid. In this time Joshua has been a witness and visual biographer to its change while also maintaining his international focus. His work serves as a reminder of what is important to hold onto and what cultural traditions need to be cultivated in order for the city and the world at large to maintain its unique identity. His images are as equally about holding on to tradition as they are about creating new ones, serving to bridge the past with the present. The image of the cherry blossom captures D.C’s iconic tree long after the tourists have gone and the rest of the city has gone to sleep, it is a reminder of beauty and the friendship that they symbolize.
