DescriptionThis piece incorporates colored glass sheets with textured glass powders to form an interesting visual design. The glass powders are designed by sprinkling glass powder on clear glass, texturizing the powder with various tools, and then fired in a kiln. After being fired, layers of colored glass are overlapped with the pre-fired powdered sheet, forming an interesting design and a range of beautiful color combinations. Once assembled, the piece is full fused all together to form a flat circle. The final firing is called the slump. A mold is selected and the full fused glass piece is placed on top of the mold and fired to a lower temperature than when full fused fired, causing the glass to “slump” into the mold and create a shape. The colors are reminiscent of an intense sunrise out west, reminding one of staying at a B&B, which is how the name Breakfast at the Ranch came to be.
