DescriptionMark Cameron Boyd developed his art through a very structured and specific practice. By 2004, his process had evolved conceptually and practically, with his spoken thoughts about semiotics and linguistic theory, first tape-recorded and then later to be transcribed content for subsequent works, such as “No way to convey (without signs).” His actions upon the text incorporated his signature process of bisecting the sentences and words to reduce their visual recognition, producing a dense veil of fragments. By creating his art though text manipulation, Boyd now additionally addresses the difficulties of accessing meaning in visual art through traditional understanding of language.
